The Town of Middlefield Highway Department Has an Immediate Opening for 4 MEO/ Road Maintainer Positions CDL Class B Minimum Required with NO Automatic Restriction. Salary: Starts at $26.50/hr. - With Increase to $27.50 after 6 mo. (or less) at the discretion of Highway Superintendent. - Based on Union Scale. Family Plan Health Insurance Provided. -------------------------------------------- We are seeking a skilled and dependable Motor Equipment Operator (MEO)/Road Maintainer to join our public works or highway department team. The MEO/Road Maintainer is responsible for operating a variety of heavy and light equipment to construct, maintain, and repair roads, drainage systems, and related infrastructure. Duties include operating graders, loaders, dump trucks, snowplows, and other machinery; performing manual labor such as shoveling, raking, and patching; and conducting routine maintenance on equipment. The ideal candidate should possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in all weather conditions. Knowledge of road maintenance techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation is essential. Previous experience in road construction or municipal maintenance is preferred. This position offers an important role in supporting community infrastructure and public safety, often requiring flexible hours, including overtime, nights, or weekends during emergencies such as snow removal.
